Applications
NU CAL ALUMINUM CABLES are normally used in overhead power transmission lines. CAL cable is a concentrically stranded conductor made up of one or more layers (cores) of 6201-T81 aluminum alloy wires. It was developed to meet the need for an economical conductor for aerial application, where greater mechanical strength than that obtained with the CA aluminum conductor is required and greater
corrosion resistance than aluminum cable with CAA steel core.
Alloy 6201-T81 conductors are harder and therefore have greater abrasion resistance than 1350-H19 aluminum conductors. However, the same precautions taken when handling CA and CAA conductors must be observed
when handling CAL conductors. The stranding combinations of CAL cables are similar to those of AC cables.
Packaging
They are usually packed on wooden spools.
